Biofeedback

Struggling with stress? Chronic stress can make tension, fatigue, pain, and poor sleep feel normal. Biofeedback helps you retrain your body to relax, easing stress-related symptoms and improving overall well-being.

What is biofeedback?

Biofeedback is a helpful tool that can improve your health and performance by using signals from your body. Our goal is to help you become more aware of and in control of what your body does automatically, like breathing or regulating your heart rate. By using sensors to track these signals, we can teach you ways to stay calm, balanced, and focused through breathing exercises, meditation, and visualization.

Biofeedback is suitable for anyone looking to improve their health, whether you’re dealing with chronic stress, seeking to optimize performance, or looking to manage conditions like migraines, chronic pain, or anxiety.

Conditions treated with biofeedback include:

  • Stress
  • Muscle tension
  • Chronic pain
  • Migraine and tension headaches
  • Insomnia
  • TMJ/TMD
  • Anxiety
  • High blood pressure
  • Digestive system disorders such as IBS
  • Raynaud’s syndrome
  • Sports performance
  • Concentration

What to expect

  • A 45–50 minute session with sensors placed on your body
  • Personalized plans based on your condition
  • Recommended tools and practices for use between sessions
  • Significant improvements are often seen in 4-8 sessions

Biofeedback reminds me that even in the midst of chaos, I have the ability to be centered with my breath.”

Two Women Eating Salads

For many years I have suffered from anxiety and hypertension that medications alone did not resolve; since implementing biofeedback training and paced breathing, I finally have the relief, calm, and peace my doctors and I have worked towards…I’m so grateful to have access to this wonderful and lifesaving resource! .”

Getting started

The first step is to schedule an orientation session. If you are a Kaiser Permanente member, you can request a referral from your doctor and then we will send you a kp.org message with instructions for scheduling.

If you are not a Kaiser Permanente member, simply call 858-616-5600 to schedule.

After your orientation session, we will schedule your biofeedback sessions. These are available at our Positive Choice Garfield Specialty Center, Otay Mesa, and Vista Medical Offices.

Biofeedback fee is $95 per session.

KP members with a referral have a different fee.
