Wellness Coaching by Phone
Kaiser Permanente members may receive motivational coaching over the phone by a licensed health educator for a specific health goal. They have five topics to choose from: Eating Healthy, Being More Active, Losing Weight, Quitting Tobacco, or Being Less Stressed. The coaches assess the member’s readiness and individual goals and then provide motivation and accountability through the mail (regular or e-mail) and every other weekly calls from their coach. There is no time limit on how long it takes for the member to achieve their goal and members may choose to work on as many of the topics, one-at-a-time, as they like. TOBACCO CESSATION PROGRAM
Freedom from Tobacco
One of the best things you can do for your health is to quit tobacco. Freedom from Tobacco starts with an orientation session where you will receive an overview of medications and resources that are available to help you quit. Then the following six-session program (1.5 hour sessions) will help you to set a quit date, quit tobacco, and support you to stay quit. You will learn successful, easy techniques for dealing with cravings and temptations in a supportive group environment. The program will help you gain a better understanding of the routines and habits that stimulate your urge to smoke and you will explore continued support options for staying free from nicotine addiction. SELF MANAGEMENT PROGRAMS
Stress and Emotional Health
Self-awareness is a powerful way to maintain mind-body health. In this one-session class (2.5 hours), you will discover how your body, mind, and health are connected and begin to identify the causes of stress in your life. You’ll learn basic coping skills that will help you manage the stress in your life and minimize its effect on your health.
Medical science has made amazing discoveries about how our emotions and thoughts affect our health. In this six-session program you will become aware of the causes of stress in your life and identify the thought patterns and emotions that act like triggers for added stress. You will learn proven techniques for training your body to relax and let go of stress. Class meets for 6 sessions, 2 hours each session.

Live Well Sleep Well – Recovery from Insomnia
In this four-session (2 hours sessions) program you will learn the techniques and relaxation skills you need to recover a good night’s sleep. It is possible to greatly reduce or possibly eliminate chronic headaches. In this class you will learn strategies, lifestyle tips, and dietary interventions that can help you avoid headaches and migraines. You can live a life with less pain. One, two-hour session. MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH
Have a Healthy Pregnancy
In this one-session class you will discuss the many normal changes that you’re likely to experience during the last trimester of pregnancy. Learn what you can do to prevent a pre-term delivery, and gain tips for how to stay comfortable. You will also receive information about support resources for post-delivery to help you and your newborn stay healthy. This class is for women 20 or more weeks pregnant. Preparing for Childbirth
Few events are more exciting than the birth of your baby. Learn the skills and strategies that can help make your childbirth experience a positive one. This four-session program teaches you what you need to do to prepare for birthing with breathing and relaxation techniques. These classes should be taken during the last three months of pregnancy. Breast Feeding With Success
Your baby’s health begins with good nutrition and studies have shown that breastfeeding offers a number of health benefits to you and your baby. Wouldn’t it be nice if babies came with instruction manuals? This class just might be the next best thing. You’ll learn how to prepare for parenthood with useful tips on breastfeeding, bathing, diapering, car seat safety, protecting against Sudden Infant Death, Child/Infant CPR, and what to do about poisons. Infant CPR – A Life-Saving Skill
Whether you’re a parent, babysitter, or family member, knowing what to do during an emergency can help you to save a life. This class will teach you cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for infants to one-year. You will also learn choking and safety guidelines and procedure. Children 12 years or older may attend with an accompanying adult. There is a fee for this course: member $15, additional guest: $10. HEART HEALTH PROGRAMS
Taking Care of Your Heart
Want to lower your cholesterol, but don’t know where to begin? This two-session class will help you understand how a heart-healthy diet, exercise, and other lifestyle strategies may help you avoid or discontinue medications for blood cholesterol. You’ll learn how blood cholesterol is connected to heart disease and how you can reduce your risk for disease. Sessions include help with label reading, shopping, meal preparation, and more. Living Well with Heart Failure

In this multi-session program you will learn the information you need to form healthy habits to manage your diabetes.
