The Positive Choice Integrative Wellness Center hosts FREE seminars and workshops throughout the year. The seminars are open to everyone. You are welcome to participate even if you are not a member of the Kaiser Permanente health plan. All seminars are held at the Positive Choice Integrative Wellness Center unless another location is listed in the description. CANCER AND NUTRITION — WHAT THE RESEARCH TELLS US

Too bad there isn’t a pill that you can take to speed up your metabolism. But there are exercises that can help give your metabolism a nudge upwards and Melanie Perkins, MS, will teach you them. Melanie will cover the science behind metabolism, and then lead you through a 30-minute workout designed to rev up your caloric burn. Come dressed to exercise.

It’s a myth that you need to eat meat to build muscle. Dr. Berdugo, a family medicine physician, Spartan, marathoner and Ironman 70.3 triathlete, will speak about the research showing that you can build muscle and reach peak performance using a plant-based diet. He will highlight some of the top vegan athletes and provide tips on using a plant-based diet to improve your athletic performance.

Too much sitting, too much stress, etc. can chronically tighten muscles in your back, neck, and shoulders. As you get older, this can lead to back problems and chronic pain. Colleen Powers will teach easy-to-do yoga poses that you can do sitting or standing at your desk, in front of the T.V., or anywhere. Learn how to loosen your knotted muscles and get the blood flowing. Colleen will cover massage techniques for hot spots. Come dressed to stretch and ready to relax, release, and rejuvenate.
